Malhar

(Raaga connected to rain + water)

City : Bangalore

At the heart of Project Malhar lies a courtyard — a soulful pause in the home, much like the first raindrop that awakens the earth. Inspired by the raga Malhar, known to evoke the mood of rain and water, the design celebrates fluidity, calmness, and renewal.

Every material was chosen with intent. The cool elegance of polished stone underfoot contrasts the warmth of natural wood, grounding the spaces in Kerala’s timeless architectural language while keeping them distinctly contemporary. Subtle cane, brass accents, and hand-polished finishes echo the traditional, yet are framed in modern, minimal forms that feel effortless and refined.

Large openings, earthy greens, and a restrained tropical palette allow the indoors to converse with the lushness outside, blurring lines between nature and built form. The courtyard becomes the nucleus — light spills, shadows dance, and a quiet rhythm unfolds with the rain.

Malhar is more than a residence; it is a sensorial experience — where heritage, water, and contemporary luxury merge to create a home that feels both rooted and timeless.
